This is the story of a collision of stories, both horrendous and hopeful. It is the story, too, of the threads of people’s lives tangled across thousands of kilometres and handfuls of decades, from 1930s Czechoslovakia to Tokyo 70 years later, from Germany’s Second World War death camps to modern-day Toronto and, this week, to Ottawa.
