Renee Lichtman and others speak at Battle Creek
No sunlight for these children

Imagine being disguised as a boy to avoid rape during wartime.
Imagine picking lice off your brother to pass an entire winter.
Imagine your whole family dead.
A panel of six Holocaust survivors shared those memories Thursday night at the W.K. Kellogg Auditorium, touching upon everything from a loss of faith in God to the triumph of the human spirit. Led by Holocaust survivor Rene Lichtman, the event was part of the “Life in Shadows: Hidden Children and the Holocaust” exhibit, currently on display at the Art Center of Battle Creek.
Each experience was harrowing in its own right.
