Christian academy’s memorial will be the second annual event

Maranatha Christian Academy plans to hold its second annual Holocaust Memorial Day Observance on Jan. 26.

The event, set to begin at 9:30 a.m., will feature Richard Stashevsky, a Holocaust survivor and the academy’s headmaster, talking about his experiences.

Stashevsky, who was born in Poland, was 3 when he was seriously wounded during Nazi Germany’s 1939 invasion of his country.

He and his mother were held at the Nazi-run Bergen-Belsen concentration camp from 1943 until the end of World War II in 1945.

Also like last year, Maranatha students plan to present a multimedia presentation on the Holocaust, and the school is sponsoring an art contest for students in seventh through 12th grades. MORE.
