(AGI) – Rome, Italy, Jan 18 – The list of Italian “Schindlers” stands at 400 according to a book out for publication. The book is sponsored by the Italian embassy in Israel and the Italian culture institute in Tel Aviv and is titled “Italy’s Just. Non Jews Who Saved Jews, 1943-1945”. The book includes a note by President Ciampi and a premise written by Foreign Affairs Minister Fini. The launch is scheduled 0915 on January 27 at the Foreign Office and will be attended by the Foreign Minister in person. “Italy’s Just” is based on information gathered at the Jerusalem based “Yad Vashem” Holocaust Institute, which is the sole establishment entrusted with deciding as to the issue award of the title “Just”; the title describing non Jews known to have contributed to savings Jews. The launch will be attended by foreign relations councillor to the President Arrigo Levi, historian Andrea Riccardi, ambassador Nathan Ben Horin, historian and Holocaust expert Liliana Picciotto.
