Controversy over Wales’ holocaust memorial service ‘good for publicity’

Wales’ First Minister Rhodri Morgan today dismissed controversy over a planned holocaust memorial, saying it had only served to bring the event to the public’s attention.

The annual service to honour the victims of the holocaust and other genocides is to be held in Cardiff next week and is the first to be hosted in Wales.

Yesterday, a Cardiff rabbi claimed organisers pruning the over-long schedule for Holocaust Memorial Day had told him that his proposed reading was to be dropped amid fears that the event was becoming “too theological and too Jewish”.
