Marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day

On the same day, Yad Vashem will open new exhibition: “Montparnasse Dèportèâ€? in the presence of the Diplomatic Corps
(January 20, 2006 – Jerusalem) Following the decision of the United Nations on 1 November 2005, countries throughout the world will mark International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust on 27 January. As a sign of solidarity with other countries marking the International Remembrance Day, the Israeli Government will hold a special Cabinet meeting at Yad Vashem on Thursday, 26 January 2006. On the same day, Yad Vashem will open a new exhibition, “Montparnasse Dèportèâ€? in the presence of the Diplomatic Corps.

During the Cabinet meeting, members of the government will receive a report on antisemitism around the world and will discuss the renovation of the Jewish exhibition at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. The Chairman of the Directorate of Yad Vashem will participate in the Cabinet meeting and accompany government ministers on a special tour of the new Holocaust History Museum.
