DAVID CRUMM: Pain and conflict of religion also need to be remembered

Peace and joy are hallmarks of faith, but two upcoming events are reminders of religion’s equally deep connection to pain and conflict.

The first, on Jan. 28, is the annual World Sabbath of Religious Reconciliation, a relatively new interfaith holiday launched locally in 2000.

The second, on Jan. 30, is entirely new: a United Nations-sponsored Holocaust Remembrance Day linked to the January 1945 liberation of Auschwitz by the Allies. MORE.
