Holocaust survivor to speak at temple

Holocaust survivor Elie Ayalon, whose life story is memorialized in the book A Cup of Honey and who served as a consultant to Steven Spielberg on the set of Schindler’s List, will speak at Miami Beach’s Temple Beth Sholom at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Ayalon will speak about his life and struggle to survive the Holocaust during World War II. He will be available to sign copies of A Cup of Honey following his talk.

Born and raised in Radom, Poland, Elie is the only child from his family to survive the Holocaust. Ayalon was interned in five concentration camps in Austria and Poland, including the infamous Mathausen and Plaszow, which was featured in Schindler’s List. Soldiers in General Patton’s Army liberated Ayalon on May 6, 1945. At age 16, he moved to Israel to rebuild his life.

Temple Beth Sholom is at 4144 Chase Ave. Admission is free. Books will be available in English, Spanish and Hebrew. For information, call the temple at 305-538-7231.
