Hungarian government to compensate family members of Holocaust victims

The Hungarian government has decided to allow the immediate family members of Hungarian Jewish Holocaust victims to submit claims for financial compensation, the Claims Commission announced Thursday in Budapest.

Claims will be accepted by the Hungarian government until July 31, 2006. The Claims Commissions will shortly inform the families of Holocaust victims how they may apply for the compensation.

Claims Commission President Israel Singer praised the decision and said the compensation will significantly assist the many Hungarian Jewish Holocaust victims who face serious economic hardships. more.
