DNA SHOAH PROJECT WILL LAUNCH IN MAY

PLEASE ANNOUNCE AS APPROPRIATE

We are compiling a DNA database of all survivors of the Holocaust and their children and grandchildren. Under the Survivor umbrella are included those who left Europe in the 1930’s and lost family members. This will enable forensic work to start in Europe to help identify victims of the Shoah and help families reunite or identify remains. This DNA database will also be available to assist those who were orphaned to potentially re-connect with extended family. Presently, victims who are uncovered cannot be identified.

This unique work could not have been started in the past because of the shortcomings of the technology and the constraints of enormous costs. Both of these issues have been addressed and this most ambitious project is ready to launch. This project needs everyone’s cooperation, from rabbis and their congregations, to landmanschaften, suivivor and descendants’ groups, youth groups, men’s clubs, etc. all across the world.

Participation is important, especially now…as Europe begins to develop, remains are discovered and need to be identified. Time is of the essence.
