SOUTHGATE – Henry Blumenstein stared down at Samantha Hoerst, hurling insults at the eighth-grader.

He criticized her hair, her ears, her smile. She squirmed throughout the ridicule.

“You think I’m crazy,” said Blumenstein, 70. “But I’m just making my case for all the terrible things I’m going to do to you.”

Blumenstein is a Holocaust survivor and wanted to give Samantha and her classmates at St. Therese School a taste of what it was like to be a Jew in Nazi Germany.
