Holocaust Commemoration To Be Held April 24th

Westchester Community NewsRye, NY – Three Westchester synagogues will jointly sponsor a Holocaust Commemoration service to remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Nazi domination of Europe in the 1930s and 1940s.

The event – known in Hebrew as “Yom Ha Shoahâ€? – will be held at Community Synagogue in Rye, on Monday April 24, 2006 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is co-sponsored by The Jewish Community Center of Harrison and Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel in Port Chester, along with Community Synagogue.

This annual event, which is open to the public, will include a program of readings, music and prayer, and will involve congregants and youth groups from all three synagogues. Holocaust survivors will share in the program, which will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. with a memorial candlelighting to recall those who were martyred in the concentration camps and ghettoes.
