The annual Yom HaShoah Holocaust Commemoration will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.

The event, which is free and open to the public, provides an opportunity for the Tucson community to reflect on the trage-dies that occurred during the Holocaust and see what can be learned from them, said Josh Protas, the director of the Jewish Community Relations Council for the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona.
“It’s a really powerful event. It is emotional, and it’s definitely very tough memories,” Protas said. “But hopefully people come away with a sense of hope and responsibility.”
