Holocaust will be remembered at temple event

Margaret Friedman will share her experiences of being a 16-year-old prisoner at Auschwitz during a program marking Holocaust Remembrance Day at 7:30 p.m. Monday at B’nai Aviv, 1410 Indian Trace, Weston.

The program is cosponsored by Temple Dor Dorim, another Jewish congregation in Weston. Friedman, a member of B’nai Aviv, will be one of several speakers at the observance, also known as Yom Hashoah.

The other speakers include Dr. Wilma Bulkin Siegel of Fort Lauderdale, a physician and artist who has painted portraits of more than 50 Holocaust survivors, liberators and children who were hidden during the war. One of Siegel’s subjects was Leon Heller, a liberator of Buchenwald, who will also give testimony at the observance.
