Yom Hashoah n Holocaust Remembrance Day

Congregation Adath Israel will host a community-wide gathering for Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at the synagogue, at the corner of Broad and Church Streets in Middletown.

Yom Hashoah is the day Jews and non-Jews alike remember the atrocities of the Holocaust and the six million people killed. It has been nearly 60 years since the horrors of the Holocaust, so for some older generations it is part of their lives, while for the younger generations it is viewed as history. But all the generations agree that, through education and remembrance, this type of persecution will never happen again.

Clergy of different faiths will join with Rabbi Seth Reimer of Adath Israel to speak of the horrors of the Holocaust. Candles will be lit and the Synagogal Singers will participate in the ceremony to remember the victims.

All community members are encouraged to attend this service; please call Eileen at 346-4709 if you are planning to attend.
