Remembering the Holocaust

In commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center and the Holocaust Memorial will present a Memorial Program at 8 p.m. Monday at in the MAR-JCC’s Stafman Lounge, 18900 NE 25th Ave.

The program will include a Memorial Room Exhibit created by teenagers from the MAR-JCC’s Hebraica Department depicting the history of the tragedy that befell East European Jewry. The exhibit is appropriate for all age groups.

The Memorial Program will also include the reciting of ”Yizkor” — Judaism’s traditional memorial prayer, followed by the viewing of the Israeli film Out of the Forest in Hebrew with English subtitles. The movie is based on the diary of Kazimierz Sakowitcz, a Pole who lived in Ponar, a place that during World War II served as an extermination site for more than 100,000 people.
