SACRAMENTO–Assemblywoman Lois Wolk (D-Davis) recognized a Davis couple this morning during a ceremony held on the floor of the State Assembly chambers to increase awareness of the Holocaust and recognize survivors from throughout the State.

Wolk honored Leny Heymann, 75, and Ralph Heymann, 84, during the proceedings—held in conjunction with the Assembly’s vote on Assembly Concurrent Resolution 100 to proclaim April 24-30 as California Holocaust Memorial Week.

“This Yom Ha’Shoah is a day of memory and mourning for those who lost their lives at the hands of the Nazis. Today, we mourn their deaths, honor survivors, and resolve ourselves to remain vigilant against hate and prejudice,â€? said Wolk. “I’m very honored to be joined today by two survivors from my district. I’m very humbled by their courage, but also by the courage of the brave people who helped them and their families to survive. Today we should rededicate ourselves to the rights and respect of each human being.â€?
