Holocaust survivor to speak

Have you ever met a ghost? A man in Opelika has.

Meet Henry Stern. A journey of 67 years, plus a 30-minute drive from the Durham, N.C., airport, put Stern on the doorstep of Fred Hertz — his second cousin whom he believed all his life to be dead. That reunion took place in 2004, 67 years after the families of both boys were separated because of the buildup to WWII. A family photo was snapped before the 11 relatives went their separate ways.

Then Henry and Fred grew into men, believing that the other had perished as many of their family members did in the war. Meanwhile, they were just a couple of states away in the U.S.
