I am a writer in Portland, Maine, seeking contact with any Holocaust survivors, or their children, who passed through the displaced persons camps in Salzburg, Austria, from May 1945 until June 1947. I am working on the story of U.S. Army Captain Stanley Nowinski and his active assistance to Aba Weinstein (Gefen), station chief for the Brichah in Salzburg, in smuggling survivors out of Europe for the trip to either Palestine or the U.S. Personal accounts of how survivors coped with the ordeal of travel and of living in the DP camps would be most appreciated.
