The World Society of Czestochowa Jews and Their Descendants is pleased to announce a reunion trip to Czestochowa, Poland. The 3-day visit will take place from October 9 through October 12, 2006.

Enclosed, please find the highlights of the trip (at the end of this email). For those of you who decide to take the trip we also included a registration form (.pdf file attachment).

Please note that those of you traveling from North America (the US and Canada) have a choice of getting to Poland with a group (flight will be arranged through a travel agent) or individually. A round trip ticket to Poland in October costs approx. US $700-$800.
Czestochowa hotel rooms are approx. US $85-$100 per night.
Registration deposit in the amount of US $150 per person will be credited in full towards your Czestochowa hotel room bill. The registration deadline is extended until mid-June, but if you decide to join us, please mail your registration and deposit a.s.a.p.

Special stop at Ryneczek
Freight depot area, from where deportation trains left
Execution site on ul. Kawia (Kawia Street)
Location of the Rabbi Asch Old Synagogue
Other points of Jewish interest such as Moebellager, mikvah, etc.
Prayer meeting at the Jewish cemetery
Meeting with the Czestochowa Jewish community
Symphony concert and ballet at the Czestochowa Philharmonic Hall – to us always the New Synagogue
Visit to Mlodziezowy Dom Kultury (Youth Cultural Center) – Jewish Festival, showing of musical “Szebaâ€? (in Rakow)
Visit to renovated Czestochowa Museum and meeting with the museum director Janusz Jadczyk
Guided tour of Jasna Gora – catholic monastery with the famous Black Madonna icon – special attention to “Via dolorosa” by famous Polish painter Jerzy Duda-Gracz
Meetings with city officials – Mayor Tadeusz Wrona, City Culture Chairman Ireneusz Kozera, Gaude Mater Chairwoman Malgorzata Nowak, City Archives Chairwoman Elzbieta Surma-Jonczyk, the Jan Dlugosz Academy President Prof. Janusz Berdowski, Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Jerzy Mizgalski
Visit to the Czestochowa City Archives
Visit to the Malczewski School of Fine Arts – meeting with director Anna Maciejowska, her staff and students (“Inspired by Jewish Culture…â€? program)
Meeting with young people (students from various Czestochowa high schools and the Jan Dlugosz Academy)
Visit to Muzeum Wyobrazni (Museum of Imagination) – Setowski
Trip through the Jura Czestochowska (Czestochowa region) – via Czestochowa, Zarki, Lelow (the site of the famous Gaon of Lelow); dinner at the famous Jewish restaurant
