EDISON – Middlesex County College honored 43 Holocaust survivors in the Middlesex County area with lifetime achievement awards at a ceremony recently at the college’s Performing Arts Center.

The ceremony, hosted by the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education [NJCHE], was titled “Remember.”

“We are honoring 43 survivors with different stories, but with one common thread of preserving the horror,” said MCC President Joanne LaPerla Morales.

Susan Weisel, whose parents were honored, contacted Paul Winkler, the commission’s executive director three years ago to see what could be done to honor the survivors after reading a newspaper article about Holocaust survivors receiving their diplomas.
