Holocaust forum looks at ‘business’ of murder

A simple design change with sinister implications was just one of many details talked about yesterday during an annual conference about the Holocaust.

About 60 people, most of them teachers, attended the Fifth Annual Martin and Doris Rosen Summer Symposium at Appalachian State University.

Dr. Robert Jan van Pelt, an expert on the architecture of the Auschwitz death camp, explained how architectural plans for a gas chamber originally had doors opening inward until someone figured out that would be a bad idea.
