(IsraelNN.com) Holocaust survivors suffered more than others in the Hizbullah war against Israel last summer, according to Haifa University researchers. The authors of the report, including a professor and an expert on aging, said one quarter of the Holocaust survivors living in northern Israel were in immediate need of help during the war but not all authorities were aware of their needs.

The researchers found relatively high levels of depression and loneliness among Holocaust survivors. Common responses to the researchers’ questions were, “I don’t have anything to live for” and “If I had the courage, I would kill myself.”
