Holocaust remembrance events planned April 15

PEORIA – A woman born just before the start of World War II and sheltered from Nazis by a Polish Catholic family will be the speaker at this year’s Yom HaShoah Service of Remembrance at 4:15 p.m. April 15 at Congregations Anshai Emeth and Agudas Achim, 5614 N. University St.

Ida Paluch, now of Skokie, and her family were put into the Sosnowiec, Poland, ghetto after the 1939 German invasion. She was separated from her mother, who committed suicide, in 1942.
