Holocaust program scheduled for Sunday

The Jewish Federation of Dutchess County will host “L’Dor Va Dor: From Generation to Generation” at Vassar’s Eli Hall Sunday at 12:30 p.m. to highlight how the Holocaust has affected the children and grandchildren of survivors.

The keynote speaker, Natalie Friedman, is the grandchild of Holocaust survivors who were imprisoned at Auschwitz, Grossrosen, Bergen-Belsen and the Bor labor camp.

In addition to having written about American literature, the immigrant experience and the Holocaust, Friedman is the acting director of the Learning and Teacher Center at Vassar College, where she also teaches in the English Department and the Jewish Studies program.

The observance will also include local survivors, who will light candles in commemoration of the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust as well as a candle lit in appreciation for those who saved Jewish lives.
