New York, NY (AHN) – Plans are underway to produce a feature film remake of “On Moral Grounds,” a documentary about a lawyer who fought an insurance giant for Holocaust survivors, after Screen Gems acquired rights to the film.

Lisa Stern, along with fellow attorney William Shernoff, took on insurance company Generali in a landmark case that saw the families of Holocaust victims finally paid long-sought life insurance policies.

Because of the case, German companies established a $5.2 billion reparation fund for survivors.

Screen Gems’ acquisition includes distribution rights to the documentary, though the studio’s main goal is to produce a feature, according to Variety. Company President Clint Culpepper is apparently still deciding whether to release the film theatrically or as a DVD.
