Some Boca Raton teachers recently sharpened skills on Holocaust education.

In fact, 15 county teachers recently received in-depth Holocaust education training thanks to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the School District of Palm Beach County Holocaust Education Department.

The program called ADL Echoes and Reflections Teacher Training for High School Teachers was recently introduced to those teachers including some from Omni Middle School in Boca Raton, according to Marcie Shaughnessy, Education Project Director for the Anti-Defamation League.

“What makes Echoes and Reflections unique is that it uses visual history testimonial clips of survivors that go with each lesson. The testimonies put a face and a voice to each story so students can better understand,” Shaughnessy said. “The goal of the teacher training was to introduce educators to this new curriculum and spend time completing a sample lesson.”
