B’nai Brith applauds Canada for seeking membership

in International Holocaust Task Force

PRAGUE, June 12, 2007 – B’nai Brith Canada has commended the Government for its declaration today that it will actively seek full membership in the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research. B’nai Brith Canada is pleased to be part of the official Canadian delegation to Prague, headed by the Hon. Jason Kenney, Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity.

“B’nai Brith Canada has long advocated for Canadian membership in the Holocaust Task Force and we are delighted to be part of the official government delegation and participate fully in this process,” said Michael Mostyn, Director of Government Relations for B’nai Brith Canada, who is representing the Jewish human rights organization in Prague. “With Holocaust denial rampant at home and abroad, Canada’s decision to join forces with the 24 current members of the Task Force will help further Holocaust education internationally, and Canada’s important role in it.”

As part of the Task Force, Canada will partner with non-governmental organizations such as B’nai Brith Canada to promote education, remembrance and research on the Holocaust in Canada and around the world.
