RAMAPO – Josh Jacobs was curious about the marking on Sam Bradin’s right arm.

“Do you have a tattoo from in the war?” the 11-year-old New City boy asked Bradin yesterday evening.

Bradin rolled up his left sleeve to expose the tattoo of the number “134263,” injected into his skin when he was taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp by the Nazis during World War II.

Bradin, a resident of Suffern, recalled that when he arrived at the camp, he was stripped, shaved and tattooed.

“They didn’t call you by name, they called you by number,” said Bradin, who was seated at a table with Josh and other boys. “At one point, I almost forgot my name.”
