Protesters carried a torch for Darfur through downtown Boston yesterday, calling on China to use its influence with the Sudanese government and end the violence there.

“We want China to exhibit some sort of leadership on an international intervention whether that be economic or military,” said Adam Friedman, one of the co-organizers of the Boston Torch Relay. Participants walked along the Freedom Trail yesterday morning. The relay was followed by a rally at City Hall Plaza with musical groups and speakers.

The band Delhill, U.S. Rep. John F. Tierney and the Rev. Gloria White-Hammond were some of the guests on hand at City Hall.
