Holocaust survivor tells his story

CHILDERSBURG — The Holocaust took several things from Jack Bass.
It took a great deal of his physical strength, not to mention trying his mental and emotional power.

It took three years of his youth. It took several of his friends. And it took his mother.

But amid all the loss, the tragedy, the permanent identification tattoo on his left arm and the horrific sights, sounds and smells he says he’ll never forget, one thing the Holocaust and Hitler couldn’t take was Bass’ sense of humor.
