PARKLAND, Washington: A $1 million (€690,000) endowment has been received by Pacific Lutheran University in the U.S. state of Washington to endow a chair in Holocaust studies and an annual education conference.

Between Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in Germany in 1933 and the end of World War II in 1945, Nazi forces killed 6 million Jews and an equal number of Gypsies, homosexuals, mental patients, political prisoners and others, most in factory-like death camps and other mass killings
