Shadow Distribution presents the U.S. theatrical release of IMAGINARY WITNESS: HOLLYWOOD AND THE HOLOCAUST, a documentary by Daniel Anker about the 60-year relationship between Hollywood and the atrocities of Nazi Germany. Narrated by Gene Hackman, this provocative film features extraordinary excerpts from over 40 movies and rare newsreels, revelations by Survivors about the events portrayed, and interviews with leading filmmakers and scholars, including Steven Spielberg, Sidney Lumet, Rod Steiger, Michael Berenbaum, Annette Insdorf, Thane Rosenbaum, Branko Lustig, Neal Gabler, George Stevens, Jr., Vincent Sherman, and others.

IMAGINARY WITNESS: HOLLYWOOD AND THE HOLOCAUST explores how an industry that sells fantasy has dealt with one of the most horrifying episodes in modern world history, and asks hard questions about the uneasy relationship between American popular culture and the Holocaust, the responsibility of filmmakers in their portrayal of history, and the power of film to affect the way we look at ourselves.

The film has screened at Jewish Film Festivals in more than 50 cities internationally, and has been the centerpiece of special events at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC and the Shoah Foundation in Los Angeles.
