Earlier this month, young authors Michael Bowen, 10, of Aledo, Ill., Molly Meyer, 17, of Bettendorf and Megan Svoboda, 15, of Davenport viewed proofs of their books of the three Esthers for the first time.

The stories are part of the “A Book By Me: Holocaust-Never Again Book Series” about local survivors and concentration camp liberators. The three stories will be distributed to libraries and schools in Illinois later this month. Two more books are scheduled for publication in February.

Each writer discovered writing and illustrating children’s books about a subject that caused the horrific deaths of millions caused furrowed brows and hours of thought.
