To Whom It May Concern:

I am an archivist at the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in NYC, and have recently come across testimonies of child survivors of the Holocaust, many of whom were in DP camps and orphanages in places such as: Wroclaw, Poland; Berlin, Germany, as well as Bari, Cremona, and Rome, Italy. I am preparing a paper for an upcoming conference to be held in London in 2009, “Beyond Camps and Forced Labour.” Unfortunately, there is a far less material (primary and secondary) available on the DP camps in Italy or the child survivors who lived there temporarily before going–in many, if not not most cases–to Palestine. For this reason, I have turned to your organization for any possible assistance. You may also feel free to contact me by phone, should you wish, at the following number: 212-246-6080 ext. 6129. Finally, in case it has any bearing on your organization, as the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, I am affiliated with the 3G New York group (for grandchildren of Holocaust survivors in NY) and the Association of Descendants of the Shoah-Illinois organization. I would be happy to give you referrals from these two groups, should you desire them.

I thank you for your time and assistance,
Rivka Schiller
