Upstanders

A Performance Piece about Genocide History and Anti-Genocide Activists

This year, the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida, will observe Kristallnacht with the premiere of a new drama, Upstanders, a performance piece that dramatizes the history of 20th and 21st-century genocide, highlighting key people whose were willing to stand up against genocide.

The performance is scheduled for Sunday November 9 at 4 pm at the Hy and Harriett Lake auditorium at the Jewish Community Center, 851 N. Maitland Avenue. It is free and open to the general public.

Written by Teresa Docherty, Kathryn Nelson, Luke Walker, and Dr. Ellen Kennedy of the University of Minnesota in 2008, the script features the stories of a few famous activists like Senator William Proxmire and Oskar Schindler. For the most part, however, the focus is on ordinary people
