Eliezer Ayalon was number 84991 in the Nazi death camps. On Friday, he gently pulled a time-worn sheet of paper from his bag with his number on it next to a Star of David. He wanted to share the memento with Samuel Klein, the former American GI who helped liberate him and other Jews from an Austrian concentration camp 65 years ago. “Oh God,” Ayalon exclaimed, grabbing Klein in a bear hug and wiping his eyes. “You are my savior.”
