Stop comparing politicians and current events to the Nazi dictator.Russell Brand, star of the current movie Get Him To The Greek , and possibly the dandiest Brit since Beau Brummell, is not the role model many American parents would hope for their children. But as Emma Brockes pointed out recently in the Guardian , there is something distinctly old-fashioned in Brand’s vocabulary that isn’t just a stylistic affectation or a universal feature of being British. Rather, it draws on being part of a generation of kids who were raised partly or wholly by their grandparents, and who have absorbed words dropped by the generation immediately above them, such as “balderdash,” “nincompoop” and “twit.”
