JERUSALEM _ A group of 150 Israeli lawyers said it is petitioning the government to urge Germany to take action against a convicted Nazi war criminal. The man, Klaas Faber, has been living unpunished in Bavaria since escaping a Dutch jail more than 50 years ago.The petition was submitted to Israel’s justice minister, the group said Thursday. Faber joined the SS in Nazi-occupied Holland and was convicted after World War II of the murder of dozens of Jews. In 1952 he escaped and fled to Germany, where the German citizenship he was granted by the Nazi regime prevented his extradition.
